

Livingstone Medical have been involved in the design and research of health information for over 20 years. In 1991, they began started working with health care organisations throughout Europe, developing and manufacturing patient education tools.
In 1996, and in response to the growth of unregulated health information on the internet, they created and launched DISEASES EXPLAINED™ an award winning consumer health information series. The series is now available in over 60 countries, worldwide.
In 2000, the publishing operation moved to the US where they formed a partnership with Case Western Reserve University Hospital, Department of Family Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio. In 2003 the entire series was approved by the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (AAFPF).
In 2006, the publishing operation returned to the UK and the Company formed a new partnership with the Family Doctor Association.
In 2010, the Company began working with the Royal Society for Public Health, towards certification under the Department of Health's new Information Standard, and were awarded
this status in March 2011.

Company founder, Ian Wood, has over 30 experience in Health Communication, including 10 years with pharmaceutical giants, MSD (Merck).
In 1996 he created the consumer health series DISEASES EXPLAINED™, and, in 2003, edited the reference book 'A Patient Guide To Diseases & Conditions'.
In 2007 he help launched the new Health Design & Technology Institute (HDTI) in Coventry and, as Course Director at Coventry University, he wrote and taught the inaugural MA in Health Communication Design.
He is a former judge of the British Medical Association's (BMA) prestigious Patient Information Awards, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
